The Ha'penny Bridge got its name from the toll once charged to cross it — half a penny, collected until 1919 — long before it became one of the most photographed structures in Dublin.

About this work

This is a black and white photographic print of the Ha'penny Bridge over the River Liffey in Dublin, at night. The cast-iron footbridge opened in 1816 and is officially called the Liffey Bridge; it was known for a time as the Wellington Bridge, but everyone calls it the Ha'penny after the halfpenny toll charged to cross it, which was collected until 1919. This print is an open edition, made to order and shipped worldwide.
