Barra Ó Maoláin is an Irish artist known as the painter of the Glens of Antrim, whose landscapes capture the particular quality of light along Ireland's northern coastline — Murlough Bay, Cushendun, the dramatic sweep of Glenariff. His paintings don't simply record what a place looks like; they convey how it feels to stand in it. Alongside his landscapes, he is known for expressive portraits of Ireland's literary giants — Heaney, Joyce, Beckett — and mythological subjects including Cú Chulainn, the Hound of Ulster.
